Sustainability

Sustainability is a value on which we at Arbos never compromise because we believe we are here on this Earth to do our part. Arbos might be “just” a job; we see it as a commitment and a stance. We feel, and truly are, responsible for nature, for the people who work with us, and for those who purchase Arbos products.

For 40 years, we have embraced a business philosophy based on the 3 Rs.

Respect for People

This applies both to those who work with us and to those who choose us for their purchases.
Those who work with us are part of our family, sharing our ethical code, as do our suppliers. Profit never takes precedence over the quality of the working environment, fair wages, equal opportunities, and the respect for fundamental rights.
Those who choose us for their purchases are our friends—people who embrace a sustainable lifestyle free from waste, eager to express their values to the world, mindful of the beauty in small things, and happy to support companies that cherish resources and experiences rather than squandering them.

Respect for the Environment

We were among the first to focus on sustainability and to produce stationery items made from recycled and eco-friendly materials, back when such practices were far from widespread (click here to read our story). We believe that waste is not something to discard but a resource to be reused to protect our fragile planet.

In 2007, COMIECO (the Italian National Consortium for the Recovery and Recycling of Cellulose-Based Packaging), under the patronage of the President of the Republic and the Ministry of the Environment, recognized Arbos as a “Pioneer.” We were awarded as one of the 50 Italian companies and organizations that “have worked to affirm the importance of material recycling and, more broadly, environmental awareness in Italy.”
Arbos is also a certified B Corp, part of a global movement of businesses that see profit not as the sole purpose of their activity but as a means to generate positive impacts on employees, communities, and the environment.

Research into Beauty

Every one of our products is Made in Italy and begins with an aesthetic and design exploration, often in collaboration with artists and graphic designers. This is combined with the search for unique materials—innovative, recycled, and sustainable by nature. Our goal is to bring carefully crafted, stunningly beautiful products into the world, moving away from the logic of mass, impersonal production.
We strive to make our products elegant, refined, and timeless. But we don’t stop there: those who physically craft Arbos notebooks and journals possess technical expertise, manual skill, and a depth of knowledge that transform our products into stories waiting to be told.
Our notebooks are extraordinarily beautiful!
Completely Made in Italy, high-quality, functional, and innovative, they embody the intelligence of the artisan’s hands. This intelligence, rooted in experience and expertise, is what makes Arbos products truly unique and special.

“Go where nature leads.”

Arbos is a B Corp

We are proud to be a B Corp. This internationally recognized certification is awarded to companies that are rigorously selected for their transparency and accountability toward workers, customers, the local community, and, of course, the environment.
We take great pride in this certification because it reflects our commitment to being a company that doesn’t focus solely on profit but aims to generate a positive impact on society and the environment. Every decision we make, therefore, considers not only economic factors but also the well-being of everyone involved and the resources that make the creation of our products possible.
This is a tangible commitment that influences everything we do. It drives us to constantly improve, to never settle, and to seek new solutions to become even more sustainable and responsible.
